The Friends of Richmond Free Library will begin accepting donations soon for the 2026 sale! 
Beginning October 26, book and puzzle donations will be accepted during the following times:

10/26 – Monday 3-5 pm

10/28 – Wednesday – 2-4 pm and 4-6 pm

10/31 – Saturday – 10-12 pm and 12-2 pm

11/7 – Saturday – 10-12 pm and 12-2 pm

11/9 – Monday – 3-5 pm

11/14 – Saturday – 10-12 pm and 12-2 pm

11/16 – Monday – 3-5 pm

11/18 – Wednesday – 2-4 pm and 4-6 pm

11/21 – Saturday – 10-12 pm and 12-2 pm

If you are not able to donate during one of our scheduled times, email Kate at ktop211@ gmail.com and we are willing to set up an appointment for you to bring your books to the library at an alternative time. Please only choose this option if you are unable to bring in your books during the set collection times.

Acceptance Guidelines:
Accepted items: Clean, undamaged hardcover and soft cover books, puzzles, and board games. 
We WILL NOT accept: media (movies, music, audiobooks, software), textbooks, magazines, readers digest or condensed books, encyclopedias or dictionaries, travel guides or maps older than 5 years, medical or legal or computer topics over 5 years old, equipment or training manuals. We also cannot accept books that are torn, falling apart, or have mold, mildew, food, or water stains, significant yellowing, or evidence of insect infestations.

The 2026 Book and Bake Sale will be held at Richmond Free Library on Friday, December 4 (5-8pm) and Saturday, December 5 (9-3pm).

The Friends of Richmond Free Library are a group of volunteers whose purpose is to:

  • Encourage community support of the library and staff;
  • Raise money to underwrite special purchases for the library as well as the summer reading program and its workshops, art classes, and special programs.

The Friends of RFL meet twice a year and always welcome new members! Volunteers are welcome and needed. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Help with the annual book sale.
  • Staff an information table at the different venues.

We are open to new ideas to support our dynamic community resource and welcome ideas for other fundraising events.

Please consider making a monetary donation. Financial donations underwrite the summer reading program, which includes arts and crafts sessions, and special programs and performers. The Friends have also purchased items that are beyond the library’s normal operating budget, such as digital content (e-books, e-audiobooks) and special collections.
