Summer Reading Programs
Every summer the Richmond Free Library and the Vermont Department of Libraries co-sponsor

children not yet ready to read on their own, Be Creative at Your Library, for children
ages 6-12, and Express Yourself at Your Library, which is for teens. Everyone who registers
can come to the celebration party in August.

Champlain Valley Fair Read And Win Program
Students in grades K-8 can win a free pass to the Champlain Valley Fair! Between June 22 and August 14,
a student can come to the Richmond Free Library, check out a book, and ask the librarian for a voucher.
After reading the book, the student must have a parent/guardian and librarian sign the voucher in exchange for
a Read And Win ribbon, which grants him or her free admission to the fair on Monday, August 31.
Hit the Books
Any student in grades K-8 who reads four or more books this summer can win a ticket to see the Vermont
Lake Monsters, participate in the "Hit the Books" celebration on Sunday, August 30, and be entered into
a Grand Prize drawing to win a baseball autographed by the team. For more information and a reading log,
stop by the circulation desk upstairs or download the form here.
Guessing Jars
Also be sure to enter the guessing jar competitions in the youth library for the chance to win a free book to keep!
Guessing jars will be on the upstairs circulation desk all summer.
