Homecard System
Under the homecard system, all Richmond Free Library cards of persons 16 years old or older are honored at the following libraries: Cambridge/Jefferson, Charlotte, Colchester, Essex, Essex Junction, Hinesburg, Huntington, Jericho/Underhill, Jericho Center, Milton, Shelburne, South Burlington, South Hero, Westford, Williston, and Winooski.
Interlibrary Loan Program
The Richmond Free Library can borrow materials from other libraries on behalf of Richmond patrons. Patrons from other towns should initiate interlibrary loan requests through their hometown libraries. Please consider utilizing the homecard system when feasible to save on postage costs.
Vermont Online Library
The Vermont Online Library offers a wide range electronic information databases on a variety of topics for all age levels, for generalists as well as specialists. Its information is from well-known and trusted publishers and licensed by the State of Vermont from the Gale Group and H.W. Wilson. These resources are available 24 hours a day from any computer with internet access, not just your library. Contact the library to obtain a password. For more information, visit vtonlinelib.org.
Listen Up Vermont
Audio books are available for patrons to download at listenupvermont.org. Simply click on the "sign in" link on their homepage, select "Richmond Free Library" from the menu that appears, and use your library barcode number to sign in.
Public Access Computers
There are three computers available for accessing the internet, word processing, and other applications. Documents may be printed for 10 cents per page. Users are allowed to sign up for 30 minutes at a time with the option of continuing for another 30 minutes if no other patrons are waiting. The library assumes no responsibility for supervising the computer use of minors.
Public Fax Service
Our fax number is 802-434-3223. Faxes may be sent for $1.00 per page or received for 10 cents per page. We also have a photocopier; photocopies may be made for 10 cents per page.
Special Discounts
VERMONT GALLERY AND MUSEUM ALLIANCE: Library patrons who show their RFL card will receive a 10% discount on admission to all member institutions of the Vermont Gallery and Museum Alliance. Member institutions include Shelburne Museum, Vermont Folklife Center, Birds of Vermont Museum, Fleming Museum, Billings Farm and Museum, and American Precision Museum, among others. ECHO: Library patrons can reserve a pass that will admit up to two adults and three children for $2.00 per person to the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. The pass may be borrowed for 3 days at a time. For more information, visit echovermont.org.
VERMONT INSTITUTE OF NATURAL SCIENCE: Library patrons can also reserve a pass that will admit up to 4 people to the VINS Nature Center for free. Explore, experience, and learn! For more information, visit vinsweb.org.
VERMONT STATE PARKS PASS: Richmond Free Library cardholders can check out a pass to visit any Vermont State Park free for one day!

BIRDS OF VERMONT MUSEUM: In addition, patrons can borrow a family pass for free admission to the Birds of Vermont Museum in Huntington, VT. For more information, visit birdsofvermont.org.
Community Room
Our meeting room is available for classes, concerts (we have a grand piano), parties, etc. To use the space costs $25/hour for private functions or events that charge admission and $15/hour for not for profit organizations. For events that are free and open to the public, there is no charge; however, all events require a completed space use agreement form. To download the form, click here.
